Monochromatic (Tone on Tone) kraft card with Heat Embossing

Hello lovelies,
Kraft cardstock is so difficult to get in Jamaica. The pack of 50 I have is like gold to me.

What I like about using Kraft cardstock is the industrial look that it gives my cards. It also creates a stark contrast for brighter colours depending on the color scheme choices and arrangements. Colors such as white and yellow really pop against kraft.

This card however does the opposite of pop. I wanted to create a mellow, elegant, understated card. I really loved the idea of using the monochromatic approach. I used clear holographic embossing powder to give a tone on tone look for the background.

Here is what you will need:

  • One sheet of Kraft cardstock
  • Clear holographic embossing powder (mine is by Ranger)
  • Embossing ink (I use versamark)
  • Heat gun
  • baby Powder
  • flower stamp for background
  • Cricut Explore (for die cutting and writing)

**Remember you can always choose to stamp your greeting or to print your greeting or if you are adventurous you can your die cut using an exacto knife.

Here are the instructions:

  1. Cut your 8.5 x 11 inch kraft cardstock in half lengthwise if you want a top folding card or horizontally if you want a side folding card. My card is Top Folding.
  2. Fold your card in 2.
  3. Add a thin layer of baby powder to the front of your card
  4. Ink up your stamp with versamark embossing ink and applying even pressure stamp the front of the card
  5. Sprinkle embossing powder onto image and remove excess. Embossing powder should stick to the stamped area.
  6. Use your heat gun to melt embossing powder.
  7. Cut and write greeting with Cricut Explore
  8. Place HELLO or any stamped greeting on foam tape and adhere to card
  9. Glue word die cuts to each other to add a little dimension and glue to card.
  10. Your card is complete!
