Hello friends!
Did you know there are tons of ways you can use your Nuvo drops to add color to your cards? Nuvo drops are not just for adding dimensional dots and swooshes. There is lots of fun to be had so let’s get into it. All supply links are at the end of the post!
When working with Nuvo drops, please work quickly. The drops begin to dry fast so remember to clean your instruments immediately with wipes or water.
The first way is to use a scraper/squeegee and scrape the Nuvo drops across your paper. I do this with a light hand so that not too much of the drops are scraped off. The remaining drops on your squeegee can be used on another card front or you can add them back to your first panel. You can even use acetate as the base which gives a fun effect.
The second way is smooshing. You can squeeze the Nuvo drops, different colors or shapes on a sheet of cardstock and smoosh another piece of cardstock on top, pressing down and smoothing with your hands. When you separate both sheets you get a fun texture with veining and dimension. If you want to flatten out the dimension you can rub a piece of printer paper on top and this will smooth the texture out. This method also produces two or even three panels in no time.
But wait, theres more!
Thirdly, you can add glitter or embossing powder while Nuvo drops are wet for shine. I added holographic embossing powder to the card below but did not heat set until the Nuvo drops were dry.
I love that nuvo drops have a fun shine and give a slick surface when dry. Due to this you can ink blend over top and buff away the excess ink and the nuvo drops will resist the ink. (That’s technique number 4!)
Fifth, You can dry emboss your panels to give an amazing effect. You can even die cut your finished panels.
