Spellbinders – Birthday Celebration Collection – Stitched Fringe Cake

Hello friends,

Here’s how I made this topsy turvy rainbow cake card (which I am so in love with!) using supplies from the new Spellbinders Paper Arts Birthday Celebration Collection. There is so much awesomeness in this collection but when I saw this Stitched Fringe Cake die set I knew I had to bring this cake to life.

To begin, I cut the fringe portion of the die set from different colors of plain and metallic cardstock. I saved the tiny dots that came out with each die cut to use for confetti later on. I used 3 strands of floss in coordinating colors to stitch each piece. I added a thin strip of foam tape just behind the stitching.

I cut the cake stand die from gold glitter cardstock, foam mounted it and stacked the cake pieces in a topsy turvy manner above it on the card front.

My favorite part of this card was adding the confetti! It was so relaxing, and yes I added one at a time. I added 3-5 dots of glue at a time and used a small paper piercer to place each dot on the card front. Tip: AN easy way to determine placement of the confetti is to randomly and gently throw it onto the card front. Take note of where the pieces fall and this will give you an idea of how to glue the confetti in an organic looking manner.

I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp “It’s no secret stamp set in white on black cardstock and cut using a small circle die.

Thanks for stopping by and remember you’re amazing!

Love, Ibby
